Storytelling is intentionally
filling the empty space
with something spellbinding.
Brian Wendt
Hello, I’m Brian Wendt
(he/him)
I am a storyteller, dungeon master, gardener, and DIY enthusiast. I write sci-fi and fantasy when not obsessively creating experiences for my D&D players or working my day job (web development).
I’m unpublished but intend on pitching my current sci-fi novel when it’s ready. That means maybe pitching to agents in 2025.
I’ve written many short stories and some of them might end up on this site. I’ve finished the first draft of a fantasy novel and the first drafts of two novellas. I’m certainly no master of the art but I hope to share some things I’ve learned and some resources I’ve curated. I don’t claim the concepts found in “Filling Space” are original, just that they are my thoughts on the matter.
About Filling Space
www.filling.space
(this site) is the blog and information resource for me, Brian Wendt. Meanwhile, “Filling Space” is an admittedly reductive statement about the art process.
You might ask why I’ve called this thing “Filling Space”. The domain was available.
Okay, I was truly seeking a domain that I could create a brand around that encapsulated my thoughts on the art process. The good .com
names were taken and empty.space
was parked.
As my thesis has to do with how storytelling interacts with empty space, the name “Filling Space” is apt. I’ll dive further into the Filling Space thesis here and in the blog.
